Sixteen years inside products, people and production realities.

FOR DESIGNERS

Put original thought in conversation with real making.

Connect design intelligence with materials, craft, manufacturing and market reality.

WHY THIS EXISTS

India’s creative talent and making knowledge deserve stronger bridges from idea to adoption.

EOI’s national programme connects academic learning, professional design judgement, artisan intelligence and manufacturing reality. It is built to produce stronger portfolios, more relevant product thinking and dependable design-support routes for exporters, artisans and self-help groups, with meaningful outcomes beyond participation.

Participation never guarantees an order, prize, employment or commercial use. It creates a governed opportunity to be evaluated fairly and to progress when the fit is real.

SIX ENTRY ROUTES

Different contributors need different promises—and a clear next step.

Each route opens the same protected EOI application with the relevant participant type already selected.

THE ECOSYSTEM IN ACTION

Participants meet through purposeful design opportunities with a credible route towards development.

A university can nominate talent. A young designer can interpret a live brief. A practising designer can collaborate. An industry leader can turn hard-earned judgement into mentorship, expert review and a legacy that travels through thousands of emerging designers. An exporter can bring a collection gap. An artisan group or SHG can bring technique, material and lived making knowledge. EOI connects the right contributors around product worlds where an idea has a credible route toward development.

FOR EXPORTERS · FLEXIBLE COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT

Turn manufacturing capability into relevant new collections through project-led design collaboration.

Through the EOI Design Ecosystem, exporters can seek structured design support for a category, material, technique or buyer opportunity. EOI can translate the need into a workable brief, cultivate ideas with high-potential young Indian designers who have already demonstrated excellence, and bring shortlisted concepts back for commercial consideration.

01

Brief the real opportunity

Share the product category, factory strength, material, target buyer, price space and collection gap. EOI helps shape this into a focused design brief.

02

Access cultivated talent

Work can be developed with selected budding designers and young talent through a governed process, giving exporters fresh thinking without first building an additional in-house design position.

03

Bid only where there is fit

Review shortlisted work and bid for the designs worth pursuing. Any fee, licensing, royalty, attribution, exclusivity, development or production arrangement is agreed transparently before use.

This project-led route protects the value of design work through clear expectations. Intellectual property, fees, licensing, production and exclusivity apply only when separately agreed in writing; participation does not guarantee selection, production or orders.

PAN-INDIA · STRUCTURED · THREE-LEVEL MODEL

From institutional selection to industry-facing opportunity.

Home Textiles, Furniture, Home Décor & Utility, Apparel & Sportswear and Jewellery form the initial contest categories, with future cycles able to add relevant EOI product worlds.

0101 · Institutional entry+

EOI verifies universities, schools, designers, exporters, mentors and jury routes before protected material is shared.

0202 · Brief and mood direction+

A category, customer, price space, material context and non-negotiables turn an open theme into useful design work.

0303 · Campus and expert shortlisting+

Originality, relevance, manufacturability, sustainability, presentation and commercial potential are reviewed transparently.

0404 · National presentation+

Shortlisted concepts enter an EOI-governed national review with controlled access and no direct bypassing.

0505 · Exporter request and design support+

Exporters may bring a real collection gap or manufacturing strength to EOI. EOI can cultivate a focused brief with promising designers, shortlist relevant concepts and let the exporter bid for the designs it wishes to develop—without creating an additional permanent employment cost.

0606 · Commercial conversion+

Production, licensing, fee, royalty, attribution, confidentiality and IP are agreed separately before commercial use.

THE HOUSE STAYS OPEN · THE WORK STAYS PROTECTED

Governance before visibility.

01

Originality disclosed

References, inspiration and permitted AI support must be declared honestly.

02

Protected communication

Participants, exporters, mentors and jury members communicate through the approved process.

03

Commercial use needs agreement

Display or shortlisting does not transfer ownership. Fees, royalty, licensing and production require separate written terms.

APPLY OR REQUEST PARTICIPATION

Use one protected entry point—EOI will route the application correctly.

Universities and schools may register institutional participation; students, practising professionals and industry-leading designers may apply through distinct talent and legacy routes; exporters, artisans, craft clusters and self-help groups may request collection-development support. The first stage establishes identity, category and purpose. Confidential briefs and heavier documents follow only after verification.
